12月9日-15日，湛江市友好代表团访问意大利、奥地利，拜访意大利曼托瓦省政府和圭迪佐洛市政府，并分别与两地签署加强交流合作备忘录，正式建立国际友好交流城市关系，实现湛江市与意大利国际友好交流城市零的突破。

Zhanjiang friendship delegation successfully concluded a visit to Italy and Austria from December 9th to 15th, marking a significant step in the city’s international relations. During the trip, the delegation signed MoUs to foster exchange and cooperation with Mantova Province and Guidizzolo Municipality in Italy, officially establishing friendship relations. This achievement marks a breakthrough for Zhanjiang in building such partnerships with Italian cities.

　　此次国际友好交流城市签约标志着湛江市在推动中意地方交流合作中迈出坚实步伐。根据备忘录，湛江与曼托瓦省、圭迪佐洛市两地将在经贸、农业、教育、文旅等领域深化交流合作。

The signing of the MoUs marks a solid step for Zhanjiang in promoting local exchange and cooperation between China and Italy. According to the memorandum, Zhanjiang, along with Mantova province and Guidizzolo municipality, will deepen collaboration in such fields as economy and trade, agriculture, education, culture, and tourism.

　　曼托瓦省政府和圭迪佐洛市政府对湛江市友好代表团到访表示热烈欢迎，曼托瓦省副省长 Gatti Alessandro、省地方警察厅厅长Cristiano Colli、塞格纳塔市长Auro Codifava、圭迪佐洛市长Meneghelli Stefano、议员 Sofia Pantani等出席座谈会并参加签约仪式。代表团团长、市委常委程凤英围绕“六个湛江”城市发展目标、“四绿一蓝”现代产业体系以及“红树林之城”、中华白海豚全球第二大种群栖息地生态名片等作城市推介。双方围绕地方治理、经贸合作、文化教育、青少年交流、农业和食品合作等议题进行富有成效交流。访问期间，曼托瓦省政府代表陪同代表团实地考察曼托瓦音乐学院及当地历史建筑和历史文化保护成果，进一步加深双方对彼此城市发展理念的理解与互信。

Notable attendees at the signing ceremony and the meeting included Gatti Alessandro, Vice Governor of Mantova Province; Cristiano Colli, head of the provincial police department; Auro Codifava, Mayor of Sangiacomo delle Segnate; and Meneghelli Stefano, Mayor of Guidizzolo, along with Council member Sofia Pantani.

Ms. Cheng Fengying, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhanjiang Municipal Committee and head of the delegation, presented an overview of Zhanjiang’s six development goals. She highlighted the city’s “four green and one blue” modern industrial system and its unique ecological features, such as the “City of Mangrove” and its status as a habitat for the world’s second-largest population of the Chinese White Dolphins. The discussions between the two sides were fruitful, covering topics ranging from local governance and economic cooperation to cultural and educational exchanges, youth programs, and collaboration in agriculture and food industries. As part of the visit, officials of Mantova Province accompanied the delegation on a visit of the Lucio Campiani Conservatory of Music and various historical sites, fostering a deeper mutual understanding of each other’s urban development philosophies.

　　出访期间，代表团还拜会了奥地利中国关系促进会、奥中友协华人委员会、奥地利粤商会、意大利意中交流协会、意大利曼托瓦省华侨华人工商联合会、意大利中国总商会等商协会和广东省驻意大利经贸代表处，并实地考察蓝弗朗克种植生产基地、新能源公司和鞋业公司等，加强与海外侨胞团结联谊，推动湛江与意大利和奥地利在经贸、文旅、农业等多领域交流合作。

During the visit, the delegation also met with several organizations to promote further cooperation. These included the Organization for Promoting Austrian-Chinese Relations, the Chinese Committee of the Austria-China Friendship Association, Guangdong Chamber of Commerce in Austria, the Italy-China Exchange Association, the General Chamber of Commerce of Chinese in Italy, and the Federation of Chinese Associations in Mantova. Additionally, they visited the Guangdong Economic and Trade Representative Office in Italy. The delegation also conducted on-site visits of the Blaufränkisch nursery and production base, a new energy company and a local shoe company to strengthen ties with overseas Chinese and explore opportunities for economic, cultural, tourism, and agricultural cooperation between Zhanjiang, Italy, and Austria.

　　此次湛江与曼托瓦省、圭迪佐洛市政府缔结友好关系，既是地方服务国家总体外交、深化中意人民友谊的生动实践，也是扩大高水平对外开放、赋能湛江城市国际化进程的重要成果。截至目前，湛江与全球16个国家27个省州市建立了友好城市关系，构建起多方参与、共同获益的国际友城交往新格局。市外事局将以国际友城为抓手，持续拓展国际合作朋友圈，优化友城布局、深化友城务实交往，创新方式讲好湛江跨越式高质量发展故事，为湛江高水平对外开放贡献外事力量。

The establishment of the international friendship city relations represents both a vivid practice of local governments serving the overall national diplomacy and deepening the friendship between the Chinese and Italian people, and a significant achievement in expanding high-level opening up and promoting internationalization. To date, Zhanjiang has established friendship  relationships with 27 provinces and cities in 16 countries worldwide, creating a new pattern of international exchange that benefits all parties involved. Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs Bureau will continue to leverage these international friendships to expand its circle of global cooperation, enhance the layout and substance of these partnerships, and showcase its leapfrog and high-quality development in an innovative way, contributing to the city’s high-level opening up through strengthened foreign affairs engagement.
