Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs Office hosts "Eyes on Zhanjiang" Symposium- "My suggestions for high-quality development" 

　　3月3日，市委外办在湛江举办“外眼看湛江”主题系列活动之“我为高质量发展献一策”外籍人士座谈会。此次座谈会旨在让外媒、在湛外籍人士讲述湛江近年来改革发展变化，让更多外籍友人了解湛江、融入湛江，热爱湛江，进一步提升湛江对外开放水平和国际竞争力，打造国际化营商环境和城市形象。

　Eyes on Zhanjiang----My Suggestions on High-quality Development Symposium was held in Zhanjiang on March 3rd. The purpose of this symposium is to allow foreigners in Zhanjiang to tell about the reform and development of Zhanjiang in recent years, so that they can better understand the city, get more involved, and love Zhanjiang. It will also help Zhanjiang to further its opening up to the outside world and enhance its international competitiveness, and build international business environment and city image.

　　座谈会邀请了驻湛高校外籍教师、在湛外企员工、湛江市海外留学青年联谊会成员等20余人参加。市委外办主任王敦滟首先以“枢纽之城”、“崛起之城”、“幸福之城”、“彩色之城”四个主题切入，现场向国际友人全方位、多角度推介湛江，介绍湛江交通出行、重大产业项目、海鲜美食等，展示一个鲜活立体的城市形象。

　More than 20 foreigners from higher education institutions, foreign companies, and Zhanjiang Oversea-educated Youths Association were invited to the symposium. Director Wang Dunyan of Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs Office first introduced the transport, major industrial projects, seafood cuisines of Zhanjiang, and described it as a hub city, a city on the rise, a city full of happiness and a city of colors, showing a vivid picture of this city.

　　外籍友人依次分享自己在湛工作生活的体验，并从交通、教育、旅游等多方面提出自己的建议，积极为湛江打造国际化营商环境和提升对外开放水平建言献策，现场气氛热烈。来自岭南师范学院的加拿大籍外教约瑟夫（Joseph）认为湛江旅游资源丰富，可增设出售湛江特色美食小吃和纪念品的摊位，大力发展水上运动项目，提高游客的滨海旅游体验感。

　Foreign friends present shared their living and working experiences in Zhanjiang and put forward many suggestions on transport, education, tourism and other fields, actively offering ideas for Zhanjiang to build international business environment and promote opening up. “Zhanjiang has abundant tourism resources. It can add more stalls selling local food and souvenirs, and develop different kinds of water sports to promote coastal traveling experience.” Canadian teacher Joseph from Lingnan Normal University said.

　　尼日利亚籍的山姆（Sam）在湛生活14年，就建设外国人友好型社区提出自己的见解，如增加中英双语公示语标志、在社区建立英语学习活动中心等。俄罗斯籍外教塔季扬娜（Tatiana）现任职于广东海洋大学中歌艺术学院，她认为在市内建设小型音乐厅有助于提高市民对古典音乐的热爱和传承，举办古典音乐会能为湛江增添人气和声望。

　Sam has lived in Zhanjiang for 14 years and he is from Nigeria. He shared his views on building international friendly communities through adding English and Chinese signs in public places and setting up English learning centers in the community. Tatiana is from Russia and now works as a foreign teacher at Zhongge School of Arts in Guangdong Ocean University .she believed that building small concert halls in Zhanjiang could enhance citizens’ love for classic music and encourage them to learn and inherit this tradition. And holding classical concerts could make Zhanjiang more popular and famous.

　　在自由交流环节，外籍人士由衷表达了他们对湛江美食美景和悠久历史文化的热爱，并表示愿意在这里继续工作生活，也将积极参与城市国际化发展建设。

　In free discussion session, foreigners present expressed their love for the delicious food, beautiful scenery, long history and rich culture of Zhanjiang. They were willing to work and live in this city, and would actively participate in building Zhanjiang into an international city.

　　市委外办主任王敦滟衷心感谢外籍人士提出的宝贵建议，表示会对相关问题和建议进行汇总整理，交于相关职能部门，及时跟进并会给予大家反馈。

　Director Wang Dunyan expressed sincere thanks to the suggestions provided by foreign friends. She said Zhanjiang Foreign Affairs Office would summarize and sort out relevant issues and suggestions to relevant departments, closely follow up and offer feedback to them.
